Patty Jakos
President
I’m Patty Jakos, owner of The Sound Shop. I bought the business from Larry Powers in 2012, after working for him since 1989. I’m a fan of really big TV’s for movies, Jeopardy and Netflix. I like to help people find a system they can use and enjoy! In my spare time I like to golf (poorly), garden (with mixed results), and spend time with my husband and family. I kind of miss being Downtown, but we all love our Westside location, especially the parking! We are thrilled that our long-time customers have followed us on this journey. If you’ve never been to our store, we look forward to meeting you and sharing what we love to do!
Scott Alamo
AV Consultant
I met Scott when he was a customer in the late 90’s. His daughter would sit at my desk making paperclip art while he shopped for audio gear. It was clear that he belonged at The Sound Shop and eventually became part of our team. Family is everything to Scott, now “Papa” to his adorable grandkids! But he also just LOVES Music, especially listening to vinyl. If you want to hear some crazy good demo music, he’s the guy to ask.
Scott’s a huge Metallica fan, and always wears a Raiders logo, but wishes they were still in Oakland. He’ll talk football with anyone, and it’s fun to watch people give him grief about his Raiders jacket. Eventually they realize that it’s not the team, it’s the game they all love.
Scott takes his job very seriously, always going the extra mile, and that’s why his clients return year after year.
Bob Scruggs
Retired
Congratulations to Bob, who has retired after 40+ years in the business, 17 of those right here at the Sound Shop. Bob’s expertise has made him a valued member of the team, and we will miss having him around.
As many of you know, Bob has been an avid photographer in recent years and plans to spend his time on more shooting adventures. Bob’s client projects are being taken up by Scott Alamo, who promises to provide the same care and knowledge you’ve grown accustomed to.
