Larry Powers, President

larry@the-sound-shop.com

Welcome to The Sound Shop. I’m Larry Powers and this is my passion.

Many, many, many years ago, while finishing college, I was selling advertising part-time. I heard that a friend had opened a store selling audio equipment, and figured with a new store, he would need advertising, so I called on him
.

As I walked into that little store, I heard music that sounded better than anything I had ever experienced. Selling advertising went completely out of my mind, I just wanted to know about what I had heard. It was fantastic!

The next thing I know, I’m working for that friend, selling those fantastic sounding audio components. I have loved music, and great audio equipment, ever since. I took over The Sound Shop from that friend in 1980, and it’s still exciting! The innovations and improvements in today’s video and home theater arenas are thrilling. Lately I have re-energized the vinyl in my system, and am still having a great time listening to fantastic sounding music!

Thanks for taking the time to research us and what we do. We look forward to sharing our passion for truly outstanding audio and video!

Mike Fallert, General Manager

mike@the-sound-shop.com

I’m Mike Fallert, The Sound Shop’s General Manager. I got started in the audio business in the mid 1980’s installing car stereos while studying electronics. After finishing school, I worked as a research tech for a while before joining the military, where I served in Germany, Korea and the Phillipines. After leaving the army, I was lucky enough to return to the audio industry.

The best part of my job is being able to design systems using the latest technology, like keypad systems and music servers, and still keep it user-friendly. No two customers are alike, and since this industry is constantly changing, it’s always interesting.

Let me know if there is anything I can do for you!

Kelly Miles, A/V Consultant

kelly@the-sound-shop.com

I’m Kelly Miles, and I have been in the music business since my family opened their first piano & organ store in Oklahoma, back in 1967. I moved to Colorado with my wife in 1986 for her job as a high school administrator and coach. I enjoy sharing my appreciation of music and the thrill of a good movie with my customers. I also enjoy going camping in the mountains with my Jeep.

I like to think I’m quite a cook, and do most of the cooking at home. I’ve been with The Sound Shop for 14 years, and have always said this is not really a job, but more of a hobby. If you need to reach me on a Sunday, I’ll either be at a car show or watching NASCAR. Maybe I’ll see you there!

Bob Scruggs, A/V Consultant

I’m Bob Scruggs, an Audio/Video sales professional who helps his clients with both system design and product selection. I have over 34 years of experience in the electronics industry and have spent the last eight years working for The Sound Shop. Prior to that I worked for Sound Track in Colorado Springs, and I spent 15 years in England and Germany with Pioneer Electronics as a regional sales manager.

My main addictions are high-end audio and video gear, jazz, and fine art.
Let me show you what’s possible!

Jim Hannig, A/V Consultant

jim.hannig@the-sound-shop.com

Hello, I’m Jim Hannig, and I’m an Audioholic. Yes, that means I love audio and I’ve had a passion for it since I was a kid.

I’ve lived in Colorado Springs since 1960 and enjoy taking my Harley on a ride through the mountains and camping with my family. I’m also a bit of a gear head with a passion for American muscle cars from the mid 50’s through the early 70’s and still turn a wrench on my old high school car.

I’m one of the newest members of The Sound Shop, but have over 31 years experience in the industry.

The ever-changing world of electronics can be a bit overwhelming, so stop in and let me design a system for you and your lifestyle, and experience some of the finest audio and video toys in Colorado.

Patty Jakos, Office Manager

patty@the-sound-shop.com

I’m Patty Jakos and I’m Larry’s Office Manager. I’ve worked for Larry forever, and that’s a really long time! I handle all the paperwork for accounts payable, receivable, HR, financing, and all the daily goings on. I also design many of our advertising pieces, and our web site content. My job is great – I’m surrounded by lots of fun stuff, and working for a small company means I get to do a lot of different things including gardening, decorating, and catering!

I’m a home improvement addict, so I love the design aspect that has worked its way into audio and video over the last few years. Manufacturers have finally realized that style and substance can co-exist! I’m also a fan of universal remote controls that “ keep it simple” and really big TV’s for watching sports & movies!

Thanks for visiting our website. Hope to see you soon…
